I had a columellar strut placed during my rhinoplasty surgery almost two months ago. I can now feel the ridge of the strut all the way down into my upper lip and it even looks visible when I smile. Is this normal? Is it too soon after surgery or will a revision procedure be necessary?
So soon post op, my first question is always, “Have you talked to your surgeon and what did he/she say?” Your nose may always be a bit stiffer with a columellar strut in place but it should not be visible. However, only your surgeon knows exactly how long the strut is and now deep it goes. Only he/she can really advise you on whether something will need to be done in the future. That strut may be very important to your reconstruction.
