How effective are laser skin resurfacing procedures? What exactly do they do?
As with any procedure, it all depends on picking the right patient for the technique. I have been doing carbon dioxide resurfacing since 1995 and Portrait plasma skin resurfacing since 2006. The laser vaporizes old skin, and the plasma heats it with an electrified nitrogen gas. In both cases the skin will start to peel on its own at 4-5 days. I use the laser for deeper wrinkles and acne scars. Both procedures can also be used to lighten the skin. I really like the color results we see with the nitrogen plasma (Portrait). Here is a link:
