I am interested in making my lips fuller, both the top and bottom.

Question:
I am interested in making my lips fuller, both the top and bottom. I really don’t know what this means. Is it surgical, some type of filler or even an implant? What is the safest and most reliable method?

Answer:
I have moved away from permanent implants because it is very hard to know exactly what a patient wants until you do it. Fillers can be modified with each treatment. You can always put in more at a next treatment or use less once it goes away. I like subtle, but some of our patients want dramatic and get s second syringe 3 weeks after the first injection. I like hyaluronic acid for this, usually Perlane or Juvederm. I have seen persistence of the result for 9-12 months and even some permanent change.
