I keep hearing that Dysport is supposed to be better than Botox. Is this true and how?
There is no absolute data that shows that one lasts longer or works better. It is all dose related and some people react better than others. I think Dysport spreads upwards a bit more on some patients but I do not have controlled, double blinded studies. The newest botulinun toxin, Xeomin, will be available soon. Actually we will have it November 1, before it is generally available. It is different by the fact that the protein which protects the toxin in the GI intact has been removed. This is supposed to the prevent immunity sometimes seen with the others, Botox and Dysport.
