I am an African American woman and I would like laser hair removal for my bikini line. Do you have a laser that won’t discolor darker skinned patients? Will we know during the treatment whether the skin color is being affected?
Answer:
The GentleYag laser from Candela and the diode laser from Lumenis should be safe. However, there are no absolutes. You might want to have the provider do a test spot first. If it blisters, the settings are two intense. Even with the proper laser, treating dark skin is challenging.
