Question:
I'm interested in having a touch-up facelift. My first one was ten years ago. Are there doctors who specialize in secondary facelifts?

Answer:
Very few do this only. A facial plastic surgeon who has been in practice over 10 -15 years should be able to do this well.

Question:
How young is generally too young for a facelift?

Answer:
Are you asking before all the TV make-over nonsense or after?  The most common optimal age range is 45-55.  If you are too young to have jowls, you are too young to have a facelift.  While the rare 39 year old may need a mini-lift, she would be rare.

Question:
I have sagging jowls but no other issues. What's the best procedure for this? Are there any minimally invasive procedures?

Answer:
Hard to tell without seeing you, but perhaps just a mini lift. There are many kinds of mini lift. This one would be a cheek lift. I do what is called a SMAS flap for this. Question:
Is there such a thing as a mini brow lift?

Answer:
An endoscopic forehead lift could be considered a mini lift. A temple lift, mid forehead lift or direct brow lift could also be considered a mini lift.

Question:
I'm interested in getting a facelift. I understand that the scar can go both in front of and behind the ear. I tend to wear my hair up and am concerned that I won't be able to after the surgery as the scar will be very noticeable. Is it possible for women to wear their hair off of their face as in a ponytail after a facelift?

Answer:
The incisions are broken up and hidden in such a way by most surgeons that this is usually not an issue.  My patients wear their hair up, but usually not for a year or so.

Question:
I’ve always had a very round face, which I think is mostly caused by my cheeks. Everyone said that my face would get thinner with age, but I’m 25 and I still have that round, moon-face sort of look. Can my face or cheeks be thinned with liposuction?

Question:
Yes, but I personally do not recommend the procedure. You will loose fat volume as you age and at some point you may regret having removed some of the fat.

Question:
I’m 58 and I feel that I look pretty good for my age, everyone always thinks that I’m younger. However, over the past year or so, my neck has begun to get really saggy. What are my options for improving the contour of my neck?

Answer:
You can have a neck lift that tightens the platysma muscle and the skin. However, at 58 you would likely be happier with your overall appearance if you have a full lower facelift. This consists of a neckl ift plus a cheek lift.

Question:
Hi. I am 54 years old and would like a neck lift. My 56-year-old sister and I have the same wrinkled neck and she is interested in one as well.  How long do the effects of the neck lift generally last? Does the tightened skin continue to wrinkle at the same rate?

Answer:
The procedure does not do much for wrinkles.  It tightens the muscles and skin of the neck.  Results can vary from 5 years to 10 years depending on the heaviness of the skin and muscle.  Your sister’s anatomy is probably very different from yours, ie muscles and skin.

Question:
At 52 years old, I am a very physically fit male and take pride in my appearance.  I am starting to get the telltale signs of jowls and a little double chin.  No matter what I do, I can't get rid of them.  Would facial liposuction be an appropriate procedure for me or do I need to have a facelift along with it?

Answer:
Of course I would have to examine you to know for sure, but at 55 with a typically heavy male neck, most likely you need at least a neck lift and perhaps a full lower facelift (neck lift plus cheek lift).

Question : I notice that when I am not smiling, it looks like I am frowning. People actually comment that I seem angry.  I don’t know if this involves just my mouth or both my mouth and eyes. Would a consultation help me identify whether I need a cheek lift, an eyelift or both?
