I often hear about injectable fillers being used for treatments that are “off-label”, which I understand refers to a use not approved by the FDA. This sounds fairly common, but is it something to be concerned about?
It all depends on who is doing the filling and his/her experience with the filler. You should be injected only by a board certified Facial Plastic Surgeon, General Plastic Surgeon, Oculoplastic Surgeon or a Dermatologist. Ask him/her about experience and potential complications. There are real risks but they should be minimal if done by the right person.
