I’ve been reading up online about laser skin resurfacing. I’m a little confused, since I’ve read about CO2 lasers, Fraxel lasers, Dot lasers, etc. What might be the best laser skin resurfacing treatment for a 42-year-old woman with freckles and sun damage on the face, neck, and décolletage?
It depends on the depth of the wrinkles, location of the wrinkles, your skin type and whether your freckles are really freckles or sun damage. I like the fractionated carbon dioxide laser for deep wrinkles and sun damage in patients with light skin or moderately light skin. If the wrinkles are not so deep and the sun related pigment just as bad, I like to use nitrogen plasma (Portrait PSR 3). In darker skinned patients, Fraxel might be a reasonable option.
