As people age, the underlying collagen and elasticity of the skin diminishes. Over time this can make a person look older, resulting in sagging skin and wrinkles. To combat this, individuals often seek out different solutions, from face creams to facials. But if you’re finding that your over-the-counter remedies aren’t working quite as you’d hoped, Dr. Bentkover and his team can help.
While plastic surgery can be very effective at rejuvenating one’s appearance, there are plenty of options other than invasive surgery to help rejuvenate your skin. For those who are a little weary of surgery or not quite ready, it’s good to know that enhancing your image does not always mean you need surgery. There are a variety of laser treatments and injectable procedures that can be performed to help you reach the desired appearance you are looking for.
Improving Skin Imperfections with the Candela V-beam Laser
Laser treatments are commonly used to treat skin imperfections or areas of the skin that need a vitality boost. Some imperfections may include rosacea (a redness of the skin around the nose and cheeks), spider veins in the face, and dark spots. The Candela V-beam is a laser treatment that helps improve those skin imperfections with minimal down time. Since this is considered a noninvasive procedure, the recovery process may only be a few days depending on the person. Some minor redness and swelling may occur for 24-48 hours after the treatment, but applying ice can help. The treatments are performed right in the office and only take a few minutes to complete. One thing that Dr. Bentkover will stress during the consultation appointment is that Candela V-beam and laser treatments in general do not work on tanned skin. A person with tanned skin can have an abnormally high rate of absorption of the laser energy which may result in permanent pigment changes of the skin or scarring. Also, laser treatments such as the Candela V-beam, generally require more than one treatment in order to achieve optimal results. It may take up to 12 weeks for the full effect to show.
Erase Wrinkles with Injectables
Botox and dermal fillers are a very popular alternative to surgery. Botox is a wrinkle reducer that can effectively treat dynamic wrinkles like crow’s feet and frown lines. Results generally last three to four months and can be repeated as needed. Dermal fillers like Juvederm can improve the appearance of wrinkles and sunken areas by filling them in. They can treat fine lines around the lips, wrinkles or lines around the corners of the mouth and eyes, and they can be used to plump the lips. Depending on the type of injectable, results may last anywhere from 6 months to a year or longer.
Juvederm Ultra and Juvederm Ultra Plus are two injectables that Dr. Bentkover commonly uses with great results in his practice. Juvederm Ultra is a less concentrated filler that can produce a more gradual and natural-looking appearance. Juvederm Ultra Plus is a higher concentrated injectable that requires a deeper injection than Juvederm Ultra. Juvederm Ultra Plus tends to last longer because it pulls more fluid to the injectable area. This treatment is often used to create a larger, plumper appearance to the lips. There are many options available when it comes to injectables so a consultation with a qualified doctor like Dr. Bentkover can help you to find the one that’s right for you.
