Question:
I’ve heard that it’s difficult to get a lot of definition in the tip when performing rhinoplasty on a bulbous ethnic nose. Is this true and how much definition can realistically be expected?
Answer:
In any thick skinned nose, the ability to get good definition depends on the proper use of strong cartilage grafts. (Here is an example: http://www.drbentkover.com/photogallery/rhinoplasty/patient-19) What makes some ethnic nose even harder is that the underlying tip cartilages may be smaller and weaker than the noses of the Caucasian nose. This may be true of an asian, black or hispanic nose.
