Candela Intense Pulsed Light (IPL)
For...
* Rosacea
* Facial and neck telangiectasias (often called “broken blood vessels”)
* Spider veins of the face
* Port Wine stains
* Facial hemangiomas (including facial spider hemangiomas)
* Venous lakes (dark purple spots) of the lip
Dr. Bentkover most commonly uses the V-Beam laser for these conditions. In patients with lighter telangiectasias of the face or a mixture of increased brown pigment and telangiectasias (such as in Poikiloderma of Civatte on the neck and chest) he may choose to use the IPL or a combination of the V-Beam laser and IPL.
The V-Beam laser can also be used in low doses to promote new collagen formation in the dermis as part of the Laser Facial ™ (see above). There is usually minimal downtime with some redness and swelling that generally resolves in 24 to 48 hours. Ice is your friend after this treatment. With higer dose treatments or very dark vessels there is more swelling and sometimes even some purple discoloration (purpura) that may persist for 10-14 days.
This is an office procedure requiring a topical anesthetic or no anesthetic at all.
