BECAUSE OF HIGH DEMAND, CURRENTLY WE ARE NOT ACCEPTING NEW LASER HAIR REMOVAL PATIENTS. WHEN WE ARE ABLE TO ACCEPT NEW PATIENTS, WE WILL POST A NOTE ON THIS WEBPAGE.
Imagine only having to shave your legs or underarms once-a-month.
If you are a guy, imagine no longer being embarrassed to take off your shirt because of the thick dark hair on your back.
While it may not be possible to remove every hair, laser hair removal can significantly reduce the volume of your unwanted hair. The few hairs that may be left afterwards are usually very fine and minimally visible.
Physician Supervised Laser Hair Removal
We believe that medical procedures should be performed in a medical setting with appropriate supervision. Medical lasers can be sold only to physicians, hospitals and clinics. They are not intended to be used in a non-medical setting by unsupervised, non-medical personnel. Dr. Bentkover prefers to see laser hair removal performed in the safety of a medical setting.
At Bentkover Facial Plastic Surgery & Laser Center, laser hair removal treatments are performed by our registered nurse, Nancy. Nancy has over 5 years experience with laser hair removal and has developed a loyal following of patients who refer other patients to her. She is known throughout our area for her safe, excellent treatments and compassionate care. Nancy is very thorough, very compulsive and does not skimp on the number of laser pulses administered. She has been heard to say, "let no hair go unlasered." Dr. Bentkover personally approves all laser settings.
While the risks of a laser treatment for hair removal are very low, they are real and should not be taken lightly. They can include hyperpigmentation (increased pigment), hypopigmentation (decreased pigment) and scarring. Our aesthetic nurse in very cautious in her treatments and knows how to avoid complications. If you have a suntan, you cannot be lasered until the tan fades, about 6 weeks; and you must protect your skin from the sun throughout your entire course of treatment. Marion is also skilled in the use of most of our other non-invasive lasers (eg. V-Beam, SmoothBeam, etc.)
For laser hair removal, your hair must be dark-not blond or grey. Permanent hair removal generally requires 3-6 treatments, but more may be necessary. There is little or no downtime; some swelling and redness may persist overnight. This is an office procedure sometimes requiring a topical anesthetic but usually no anesthetic at all.
We have two lasers for hair removal, the Candela GentleLase and the Candela Gentle YAG. Most patients are treated with the GentleLase. Patients with darker skin (oriental, black and some middle eastern patients) are usually treated with the GentleYAG.
