Dr. Bentkover has over 30 years experience with Injectables & fillers
As you age, unfortunately you often lose volume or fullness in parts of your face, and creases may also deepen. Facial fillers can help alleviate these problems. The right facial filler for you depends on the location to be filled, the depth of the area to be filled, and how long you want it to last.
There are a number of cosmetic facial fillers available on the market for facial augmentation. Each has distinct advantages and disadvantages. Most of the fillers currently available legally for facial implantation in the United States are temporary, ranging from about 3 months to18 months in longevity. One permanent filler has been approved by the FDA. (For permanent augmentation see web page on Facial Augmentation)
At the time of this writing, a number of new injectible fillers are also awaiting further FDA approval. As they become available Dr. Bentkover will carefully examine their safety and effectiveness relative to existing products before recommending them to our patients.
Botox® is an injectable that uses botulinum toxin to decrease muscle activity in the immediate area of the injection. It is designed to treat “dynamic” wrinkles and creases, as well as creases created by muscle movement. The effects usually last about three to four months. Click here to learn more.
This treatment works to decrease forehead creases and lift the brow. It treats such issues as crow’s feet around the eyes, horizontal lines on the forehead, chin creases, the bands under the chin or in the neck, and many more. Results vary from patient to patient. This volumizing filler stimulates the growth of new collagen in the dermis, which is a deeper layer of skin. Radiesse® is the preferred filler to treat such issues as nasolabial folds, problems with the cheeks under the eyes and under the tear trough, marionette creases, and a generalized loss of volume in the face. It is not recommended for lip sculpting or enlargement. Learn more about Radiesse® by clicking here.
Restylane® & Perlane®
Restylane® is a popular cosmetic dermal filler that is most commonly used around the mouth and nose areas. It is suggested for use by people aged 21 or over and can be used alone or in conjunction with other treatments or materials for facial enhancement. Perlane® is a “sister” product to Restylane®, which is injected into a deeper level of the dermis. It is also a preferred filler for lip sculpting and augmentation. Xeomin® is the latest botulinum toxin available in the U.S. market. Unlike other botulinum toxin products, it does not come with any of the accessory proteins that could cause immunity to the product. It is designed to treat pain and contortion of the neck and blepharospasm, which is a condition where the eyelids twitch uncontrollably. Learn more about Xeomin® by clicking here.
To increase the definition or size of the lips, Dr. Bentkover can augment the lips by injecting hyaluronic acid. This results in the lips becoming fuller and plumper, while also reducing those fine wrinkles that form around the mouth. There are a number of fillers that can be used for lip augmentation.
