Sculpting your face and neck...
Liposuction is a very common, popular procedure. It is designed for the permanent removal of fatty tissue. Dr. Bentkover performs liposuction of the face and neck as a separate procedure to tighten the area under the chin or the jowls and usually also as part of his facelift procedures.
Liposuction is most successful in people with good skin tone. It is not a treatment for obesity. If weight gain occurs following liposuction, the fat will be deposited in areas that have not been treated. To maintain the safety of the procedure, there is a limit on how much can be done at one time. The procedure can be repeated, if necessary.
A variety of factors can affect the results: Physical condition, genetic makeup, diet, exercise, smoking, alcohol intake, and skin elasticity. In patients over 40 or so, because the skin and muscles of the neck may be loose, there can be the appearance of extra skin under the chin after a liposuction done without any muscle tightening. This could necessitate the need for a necklift. Therefore, liposuction of the neck as a single procedure is most commonly performed on patients under 40. Patients 40 and over may also require tightening of the muscles of the neck (see also Submental Necklift, Necklift, Facelift and Mini facelift).
