Pellevé

Overview

In the face, wrinkles are caused by aging of the skin, muscle movement and the affects of the sun. Unlide the skin in the rest of the body, facial skin is interwoven with the muscles beneath; and small muscles protrude into the dermis, or the deep, middle layer of skin. This allows the face to be expressive, but the cost is wrinkles as a person ages and the dermis loses its elasticity. Fortunately, treatments like the Pellevé System can help.

What is Pellevé?

Pellevé is a minimally invasive treatment that reduces facial wrinkles. The treatment is virtually painless and can be performed in a doctor's office in an hour or less. The patient sees improvement immediately and, moreover, the improvement lasts and continues to improve over time, especially with repeat treatments.

Pellevé™ is a revolutionary non-surgical procedure to safely treat facial wrinkles with virtually no pain and little downtime. Using advanced radiowave technology, the Pellevé system precisely heats the deep layers of the skin without damaging the epidermis, or top layer. The heat causes the collagen in the skin to contract and tighten. After treatment, the skin begins to produce new collagen, which improves skin firmness. The result is a naturally refreshed appearance.Unlike other skin tightening systems, Pellevé doesn't require anesthesia or skin cooling. Patients can expect to feel a deep warming sensation each time the handpiece touches the area being treated. Because the skin is not numb, the patient can describe the depth of the feeling to the doctor, which helps to ensure the best possible results. They can also return to home or work immediately. Side effects may include mild discomfort during the procedure within the treatment area. Mild swelling and redness may also occur and typically go away within 2 to 24 hours after treatment.

Pellevé can be used to treat the skin on the face, including the eye area. Many people start to see results after just one treatment, with lasting improvement in skin tightness and tone for up to six months. Because a full facial treatment takes only about an hour with little, if any, recovery time, Pellevé fits easily into busy schedules. For the best results, it's important to choose a doctor who is experienced in administering Pellevé.

What are the benefits of Pellevé?

While not a substitute for a facelift or more traditional laser resurfacing or plasma resurfacing, Pellevé can stimulate collagen enough to get noticeable changes in moderately loose skin and mild to moderate wrinkles. There is, however, none of the down time associated with surgery or resurfacing procedures. Also, there is no bleeding, no peeling and should be no significant pain. The patient may experience some redness and swelling in the treatment area and the doctor may prescribe a strong sunscreen to guard against sun or light damage. Other than that, the patient can go back to their daily activities immediately.

The tightening of the patient's skin can be noticed immediately and improvement continues for about six months. For some patients the best results come after three treatments spaced about a month apart. Patients may add more treatments for maintenance.

Who is a candidate for Pellevé?

A candidate for Pellevé is a person over the age of eighteen who has mild to moderate facial wrinkles, would like to have treated without surgery and wants no downtime at all.
