How to look and feel your best on your big day

Cosmetic procedures before that "big event" are very common. While many people envision major surgical procedures to get ready for these events, there is also much you can do that is more subtle and less expensive. Whether as simple as a botulinum toxin injection, facial filler or starting a good skin care program, there is much you can do.  It may be the time to start that program of deep cleansing facials and skin peels that you never got around to booking. You just need to plan ahead. Other than a professional make-up application or skin peel there is not much we can do that will consistently make much difference if you come in for a consultation the week before the event.

Weddings have always been a time when a woman wants to look her best. A bride will want to remember her marriage as a magical moment but the stress of preparing for the big day may leave her face looking less than radiant. A floor-length white gown will also draw the eye to the head and shoulders.

There is no need to cake on a thick layer of foundation for wedding photos when your skin looks fresh and healthy. For beaming brides, skin resurfacing will even out skin tone, reduce wrinkles, and shrink scars. Obagi® skin care will also give you more even pigmentation without surgery. Also, our aesthetician is a professional make-up artist. Pellevé®, Botox®, Dysport® or Xeomin® will smooth out lines that reveal the signs of stress, while Radiesse® and other fillers can plump skin for a more youthful look. If you have rosacea or just bothersome fine red lines on your face and nose (called telangiectasias), you might consider some office treatments with our V-Beam® pulsed dye laser.

Some brides gain confidence from making a bigger change just before a wedding. Since so much attention will be focused on a woman's face, she may feel more self-assured after a rhinoplasty, a procedure to alter the shape of her nose, or a blepharoplasty, which can reduce the appearance of under-eye bags and excessive upper eyelid skin.

Also, let us not forget the mother of the bride. We treat them more often before a wedding than we do the brides. Touching up for the wedding is very common in our practice. Laser or plasma resurfacing, a full facelift or mini facelift, blepharoplasty, facial filler and botulinum toxin injections are common before a wedding.

A special word about Pellevé®....

Diminishes wrinkles around the eye with no down time…

The Pellevé® Wrinkle Reduction System is a no downtime radiofrequency system that allows patients to have a cosmetic treatment that feels like a warm, relaxing massage. Featured on the Dr. Oz Show, this treatment is great for brides and grooms. You may also want to  tell your bridal party about this new skincare option for achieving great skin quickly!  It starts with a initial set of 3-4 treatments one month apart; we can treat the whole bridal party on a regular schedule. Pellevé®can be a great skin rejuvenating procedure for busy and overwhelmed brides who have little time for themselves while planning their big day. We also think it is a great solution for women who are just beginning to show signs of aging and for the middle-aged bride or mother-of-the-bride.  It does its best work for the wrinkles around the eyes.

Reunions have traditionally been a time for party-goers to worry about appearances. You may have fond memories of classmates as young adults, and they may remember you in the same light. The most popular procedures before these events are those that eliminate signs of aging, so you can look as young as you feel. A facelift fights sagging skin. Radiesse®, Perlane®, Juvederm® and other fillers can plump up lips and cheeks. Pellevé®, Botox®, Dysport® or Xeomin® can abolishes wrinkles, leaving your skin as smooth as it was in college or high school. Blepharoplasty reduces puffiness around the eyes. Obagi® skin care and professional make-up can also make a big difference. If your skin glows, you will look younger. The V-Beam® pulsed dye laser can lighten capillaries on your face that you definitely did not have in high school or college.

Bar and Bat Mitzvahs are major life cycle events that bring families together, and everyone wants to look their best on the big day.  Even as you celebrate your child or grandchild entering adulthood, you want to rejoice in your own youthfulness. Facelifts and skin resurfacing, especially when combined with facial fillers, can do wonders for the appearance of your skin. Pellevé®, Botox®, Dysport® or Xeomin® will also smooth out creases. Blepharoplasty will make your eyes look alert, even during the longest services or party. Obagi® skin care and professional make-up are easy ways to make yourself look more youthful without spending large sums of money. Those pesky fine red capillaries showing up on your cheeks and around you nose can be lightened with the V-Beam® pulsed dye laser.

Plan Ahead
Not matter what you choose to do, however, you must plan ahead. Two weeks before a big event is not the time to try a botulinum toxin or facial filler for the first time. A real operation like a facelift, mini lift, neck lift, rhinoplasty, facial resurfacing or blepharoplasty can have some degree of swelling associated with it for weeks to months.  Plan ahead, and you will be ready for the day. For more details about the actual treatments, please read on to the next page, Your Procedure.

For a big event, you deserve to look and feel your best. These procedures can leave you feeling and looking younger without breaking the bank.

Question : I notice that when I am not smiling, it looks like I am frowning. People actually comment that I seem angry.  I don’t know if this involves just my mouth or both my mouth and eyes. Would a consultation help me identify whether I need a cheek lift, an eyelift or both?
